Local entrepreneurs met at i2n’s June Open Coaching session to hear startups Dineable, a virtual events & catering service, and EpiGenOnco, a biotech spinout, present their 10-minute investor pitches. The audience watched and listened as “The Pitch Doctor” Steve Bowman provided in-depth, targeted feedback to help improve the pitches and prepare them for real investor presentations. Mark Surkin, CEO, presented for Dineable, and Michael O’Brien, CEO, presented for EpiGenOnco.
Attendees learned about “Zoom stagecraft” and setting the scene to make the best possible impression; why slides are not the pitch; the importance of showing traction early; how to tell a story that shows you understand your customers and overall market; communicating your “big idea”; and how to show investors you can deliver on the plans you lay out.
Open Coaching is co-hosted by the PA SBDC, whose consultants are available statewide to help businesses of all kinds with expansion and strategies for growth. Open Coaching is a recurring event that is free to attend. Contact i2n to learn more, to be a presenter, or for more help on your startup’s fundraising strategy.
